The already legendary ultimate 78 ski has now transformed into the
Backland UL 78, a lightweight and mobile ski with surprising behaviour on all types of snow and any slope gradient. Comfortable and agile, it’s perfect for long tours with multiple transitions. Weighing in at less than one kilo and with a 78 mm waist, this ski is well compensated giving a good response even in harder snows.
An ultralight wooden construction made with
Poplar and Caruba combined with carbon inserts give exceptional torsion rigidity assuring precise control and stability. This allows the skier save energy both in the ascent and the descent.
The sidewall construction improves stick to the snow and absorbs vibration, something important in lightweight skis, and provides better power transmission to the extremes of the ski. The
All Mountain Rocker in the tip helps make the ski more permissive in changes of snow and facilitates the start of turns with less effort.
The new
AT Tip 2.0 styles the tip improving the weight ratio, avoiding the ski catching on different types of snow when edging on the entrance to turns. It’s design also helps to fix climbing skins quickly and efficiently.
Its medium turning radius makes for a well compensated ski both in progression climbing up a slope and in carving turns in the descent.
Characteristics:
- Ultra lightweight wooden core made of Poplar and Caruba.
- Construction Step Down Sidewall 2.0.
- Two Carbon Powered inserts.
- Profile: All Mountain Rocker 85% Camber an 15% Rocker offers a slight elevation at the tip when the ski is under load which makes the turns much easier avoiding the edge from catching. This also gives additional elevation over spring snow and changes in snow.
- AT Tip 2.0 tip profile.
- Sidecut 112/78/101,5 mm. Turning radius 16 m in size 163 cm.
- Weight 980 g/ski in size 163 cm
